Welcome

I have created this website as a resource for the students, staff, and parents at BEHS. Like many things, it is an ongoing project that will be updated as need (and as time allows). My goal is to create a "one stop shop" for anything related to graphic arts and the yearbook.

If you currently have a student taking one of my classes, I highly recommend that you keep up to date with the parent portal of Infinite Campus (IC). Any communications to you regarding missing assignments, attendance issues, or even great work will be sent to you via IC. I will also be posting any important documents (such as permission slips or course syllabi) there, so it should be a good resource for you. If you would like to log on to IC or need more information, please refer to this webpage.

For students, the class blog (for photography and graphic com.) should be your first step once you get to your class page. My goal is to post class notes there as well as keep you up to date with any changes or problems that may arise. There are also various links of interest for each class.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me via email. It is the easiest way to get in touch with me.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Simmons

About the Teacher

Mrs. SimmonsI started at BEHS in January 2006 as a long term substitute for Graphic Arts. I graduated from the University of Southern Maine in May of 2006 with a B.S. in Technology Education. I am certified to teach both Technology Education and Computer Education. I came to BEHS full-time in August 2006 after I was hired as the Graphic Arts instructor. I became the co-advisor of the senior class in the fall of 2007.

I work for USM during the summer as a special programs assistant for Summer Session and the Psychology department. I have been in that position since the summer of 2005, but have been working for the University, in some form, since 2002.

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time in the great outdoors in any way I can. I love hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking as well as spending time out on a motorcycle. I have been married since August 2007.

I look forward to reenergizing the Graphic Arts program and getting students interested in what it has to offer. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me.

Yearbook Production offers the opportunity to work with marketing and sales and graphic layout and design. The ultimate goal is to produce the up-coming year’s Highlander.

For all information about everything having to do with seniors, please visit our website at http://behsseniors.ning.com.

How to Order a Yearbook

In 2009, 650 copies of the Highlander were preordered and we sold out completely of our extra books within an hour! The students said that it was the best yearbook ever. And 2010 promises to be even better! This year, it is very important to preorder your book. We will have very limited numbers of book available after distribution. However, the price will be higher if you buy one at that time. So get one now before it's too late!

Senior Information

Senior Photos

The deadline for senior photos is October 14, 2009 at the senior class meeting. If you have not taken your photo yet, do it soon! Once it deadline hits, we won't be able to accept any late submissions.

Senior photos can be submitted to Mrs. Provencher in the main office or to Mrs. Simmons in room 2. The minimum size is wallet or 2.5" by 3.5". All photos will be published as portrait style (as opposed to landscape). If you submit a landscape portrait, it will be cropped to fix your space. If you would like to submit your photo digitally, please email it to Mrs. Simmons as an attachment. Please put senior photo and your name in the subject. Digital photos should be taken with at least a 5.0 megapixel camera or be 600 dpi. Do not shrink your photo before emailing it! It will print the best if we resize it for you.

Senior Recognition

Each year, the Highlander offers space in the yearbook for parents to give special recognition to their graduate. For the first time ever, the yearbook class has decided to offer it to every single senior. FOR FREE! The due date for all recognition ads is December 17, 2009.
