The Everyday Mathematics curriculum that we use presents topics more than one time. It is designed to revisit topics several times in the year and build on them the following years. We call this a spiral approach. Some of the methods are new to parents. I hope you find these links on the left helpful as you and your child learn throughout the school year. Please let me know if you would like the username and password for the website BrainPop.
What is Title 1?
Title I, Part A, under No Child Left Behind (NCLB), is a federal program which supports state and local school reform efforts tied to challenging state academic standards in order to reinforce and amplify efforts to improve teaching and learning for students furthest from meeting state standards.
The Title I Math Program in M.S.A.D. #6 serves children in grades 3-5. Students who are furthest away from achieving Maine's Learning Results, as measured by the Northwest Educational Assessment (NWEA), are considered for the program along with teacher input and teacher recommendation.
Title I Math Associates in M.S.A.D. #6 (Highly Qualified Educational Technician IIIs) work under the direction of the classroom teacher to provide supplemental assistance to identified Title IA math students in the classroom setting, or in a tutorial setting. Supplemental assistance is based on the needs of each child and is designed to strengthen the math skills outlined in the regular M.S.A.D. #6 curriculum which are presented by the classroom teacher.
