Welcome to my web page!

I am looking forward with enthusiasm to a very successful 2009 - 2010 school year.

A Little About Me -
Math was not my favorite subject in school and 7 x 8 was my worst nightmare! I practiced what seemed forever to master that multiplication facts. A very patient teacher, Mrs. L., believed in me and she opened my world to numbers, one step at a time. I was hooked and took all the math courses I could in high school.

There was no doubt what my majors would be when I entered USM (then known as UMP) Elementary Education/Math. I wanted to open the doors of mathematics for other children as Mrs. L. had done for me.

Upon graduation, I began teaching in Portland, grade 5, semi departmental math. That meant I had 4 classes of math in exchange for Social Studies, Science and English every day! This was a dream come true. Today, I am still in contact with former students.

Nine years later, I had 2 children and gave up teaching. When my children were of school age, I found myself volunteering in their school and eventually started tutoring for SAD#6.  When the opportunity to be a Math Associate opened, I jumped at the chance to return to the world of numbers.

Here I am, 13 years later, as a Math Associate at Hollis School and still loving it.

Patience and positive thinking worked for me and I hope to pass that on to my students. We CAN control the numbers, not let them control us. After all, we have the eraser!!!!!!!

EDM Student Reference Books are like a math encyclopedia for each grade. They explain topics in detail and contain the rules for many games. Please remember this very useful resource when doing homework!
