Welcome to the Bonny Eagle Schools
ESL webpage.
My name is Danielle Lakatos. I have been teaching English Language Learners for the past 8 years. Prior to coming to Bonny Eagle 3 years ago, I taught for 5 years in an inner city school in Southern California. I am extremely happy to be back home in Maine and to be part of such a great district.
I am state of Maine certified to teach general elementary (K-8) and ESL (K-12). I also hold my Cross-Cultural Language and Academic Development Certification (K-12) from the state of California. I graduated from University of Maine, Farmington in 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. In 2008, I graduated from USM with my Master's Degree in Literacy Education w/ESL concentration.
Currently I serve 9 schools in the district: Bonny Eagle High School, Bonny Eagle Middle School, George E. Jack, Edna Libby, H.B. Emery, Jack Memorial, Steep Falls, Frank Jewett/Hanson and Eliza Libby.
During ESL time students' academic focus is on speaking, listening, reading and writing in English. All students should be reading at home (aloud and silently) every night to help improve their comprehension and fluency skills.
