Parent teacher conferences are Thursday March 11 and Tuesday March 16. You should have received your meeting confirmation. I am looking forward to meeting with you and your child.
March 8-12, 2010
I have been experiencing internet difficulties recently so my site had not been updated. Sorry about that.
Reading: Lesson 19
Focus Strategy: Story Structure
Focus Skill: Comparing and Contrasting Fairy Tales
Fluency: Expression and Accuracy
Students will practice reading fluently using expression.
Writing:
The students have finished writing their fairy tales and they are posted in the hallway.
We have started something new in writing. We now have "choices" for some of our writing. There are writing notebooks with specific topics. (Winter sports, favorite foods, favorite places, friends, hunting and fishing, Military, etc.) Each day students are expected to choose a topic notebook and write for fifteen minutes. The children are enjoying writing much more lately.
Math:
We finished up Unit 7 Multiplication and are starting Fractions.
Science:
Ch. 5 Earth's Resources
Test will be next Thursday March 18
It would be great if you could send in a pack of index cards for your child to use to write the definitions
Cell Phone Policy:
According to the district student handbook, " parents may permit students to bring ... and/or carry cell phones for emergency purposes (cellphones must NOT be used on busses). These items must, however, be kept in the student's backpack upon arrival at school and must remain there for the entire day. "
Students should not be carrying cellphones with them during the school day, including lunch and recess.
Thank you!
