Honoring our Veterans
On Tuesday, November 10th, the Student Council sponsored a ceremony to honor our veterans. The faculty, staff, and students were invited to attend the ceremony. The Student Council, JROTC, and the Civil Air Patrol will be conducted the proceedings. It began with a welcome by the Student Council Vice President, Bobby Michaud. The band played the national anthem and then the Civil Air Patrol presented the colors. The chorus sang "My Country Tis of Thee." and "God Bless America." Whitney Porter, the Student Council President, spoke about the meaning of Veterans Day.
The band played "Fanfare for the Common Man" and "Missing Man." The Civil Air Patrol performed a flag folding ceremony. Members of the JROTC laid a wreath at the Vietnam Memorial near the entrance of the high school. Two members of the band will play taps. Bobby Michaud closed the ceremony and directed students and staff to the fence that runs from the hihg school to the middle school to tie on yellow ribbons. Members of the Civil Air Patrol and JROTC as well as students already enlisted in the military stood by the fence as the ribbons were tied. As everyone left the area, the band played "Stars and Stripes Forever."
