M.S.A.D.#6 Family Math Night - Making Math Fun

The Eighteenth Annual M.S.A.D #6 Title I Family Math Night took place on November 10th at Bonny Eagle Middle School. Approximately 100 parents, students and staff from across the district participated in this event. The goal of math night was to demonstrate math games and activities that parents and students could learn at math night and then continue to use together at home.

Title I Math students in grades two and three worked with their parents on a variety of math activities including estimation, graphing, addition, subtraction, problem solving, and mental math. This was an excellent opportunity for parents and their child to spend time working collaboratively in a fun, educational environment. Comments from parents indicated that the night was worthwhile and the games were fun to play. One parent said that she "didn't know math could be so fun...[there were] great ideas for activities for the whole family."

At the end of the evening, participants were rewarded with ice cream sundaes to acknowledge their hard work.

Anna Keenan and her Mom Lynn Keenan from Jack Memorial have fun playing an even odd game.

Solving math problems are (l-r) Alicia Wilkinson, Emily Wilkinson (2nd grade Edna Libby), Lizzy Sparks (2nd grade Edna Libby) and Chiffon Sparks.

Third grade student Issac Gaudet from H.B. Emery Jr. Memorial School gets some help with a game from his brother Sebastian Gaudet.
