A Tree for Remembrance

Buxton students at the Frank Jewett/Hanson Schools planted a tree and dedicated it to their beloved teacher and colleague, Mrs. Barbara Cole. The school invited her husband, Fred Cole. Principal Don Gnecco presented him with a certificate about the tree, which her husband said was her favorite kind, a magnolia.

The students in her class performed a special song. Their teacher, Carey Johnson said ”The students sang ‘I Hope You Dance.’ They did a wonderful job.  We will remember Mrs. Cole each time we drive into Frank Jewett and see the magnolia tree.”

Third grade student Alex Pinkham recited a poem he wrote:

We Remember
On this day we remember Mrs. Cole.
She was a fun and loving teacher.
Sarah, Allie, Max and I were lucky to have her.
She was a smart and great teacher.
We all loved her Skippy John Jones books when she made us laugh.
On Fridays she let us do crafts.
