Construction continues on our new, Buxton Center Elementary School and, now that winter is behind us, the pace of activity has increased.  Exterior walls on the cafeteria/gymnasium section of the building have been bricked, and steel framing is up on the classroom wings.

About Placement for next year...

One of the most frequently asked questions at this time of year is, "What about next year?" Our placement process is a thoughtful, collaborative endeavor, but is ultimately an administrative responsibility.  Shortly, teachers will participate in a series of meetings in which the academic, social, and developmental needs of each student will be considered in order to select a classroom setting for optimal learning as the student enters the next grade.  Like all of us who have attended school over the years, we are also aware that youngsters need to experience a variety of learning situations and teaching styles in order to be well-rounded and adaptable adults.

Parents sometimes have concerns, suggestions, or opinions about their childís learning needs.  Additionally, parents often want their student to have a teacher who taught an older sibling.  Or, in the reverse, perhaps a different teacher might be more appropriate.  All requests, suggestions, and concerns regarding placement should be submitted in writing to the principalís office by Friday, May 9th.  Information submitted by parents will be considered in the placement process; however, as the principal, the final decision is my responsibility.  I ask that you let me know the kind of learning situation or educational setting you believe your child needs, rather than who you want to be the teacher.
