HB Emery School had a program visit the school, called Ocean Discovery May 2, 2001 with Mr. Averill, The Ocean Guy. The Kindergarten and First Grade got to touch and see ocean creatures. They learned that the creatures use shells, spines, or camouflage to keep themselves safe in the ocean.

This is the Kindergarten showing their spines.

The fourth and fifth grades participated in a program on the Gulf of Maine. They learned how the area was formed and how the water currents moved. They discussed watersheds, food chains, and the impact of the Gulf of Maine on the fishing industry in Maine.

This picture is of an experiment he did showing how the river waters combined with the ocean
