Susan Kirk from Project Linus visited Stephanie Conners class at G.E. Jack School in Standish to accept a donation of two quilts that the class had made for project Linus. The fifth grade students designed the quilts this year and one of the students grandmothers, Judith Heggeman worked with them and helped with the sewing.
Project Linus gives homemade blankets so children can get a can get a "Blanket Hug" when they are sad, not feeling well, or in the hospital. The blankets are like LInus’s security blanket.
Project Linus gave over 1,300 blanket hugs in 2006. For more information about Project Linus: Susan Kirk, Project Linus Coordinator; 10 Marathon Ave; Gorham, Maine 04038; 207 - 839 - 2227; portland.me@projectlinus.org.
