New Assistant Principal For Standish Schools

92007_110542_0.jpgThe MSAD #6 Board of School Directors has confirmed the appointment of Douglas Parker to serve as area assistant principal for the Standish schools.

Mr. Parker graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Production from the University of Maine at Orono. He attended the University of Southern Maine in 1989 and 1990 as a special student, taking courses to attain full Maine teaching certification.  He is currently a candidate for a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership through the University of Southern Maine in May 2008, following the completion of an internship.

Mr. Parker has been employed by MSAD 6 since 1989. His career has included experience as both an elementary and middle school level teacher.  He has served as Head Teacher at George E. Jack Elementary School since 1998.

In his free time, Mr. Parker enjoys spending time with his family, day hiking, reading, gardening, and drumming, a skill that he has practiced since he was a fourth grade student.

Mr. Parker will assist two elementary principals with administrative duties at their respective schools:  Mrs. Virginia Day at George E. Jack Elementary School in Standish, and Mr. Steve Winger at Steep Falls Elementary School in
Steep Falls.
