Second grade student Michael Lovejoy of Edna Libby Elementary School had a very exciting ride to school recently. Michael was escorted to school in a Standish fire truck that was driven by Standish Fire Fighter Brent Libby. Michael was the lucky winner of a drawing he entered. He put his name into a drawing at the annual Standish Fire Department open house. Michael had a great time and had a very large smile as he stepped off the fire truck.

Second Graders receive a Wood Sculpture for their Classroom
Don Denico, Industrial Technology Teacher at Bonny Eagle High School, presented a wooden 3-D puzzle of a velociraptor dinosaur to Lori Davis' second grade class at Edna Libby Elementary School. Mr. Denico's daughter Sadie is a student in Mrs. Davis' class and together they named the dinosaur "Vanessa." The 42 piece puzzle took Mr. Denico a year to draft and then milled it out of birch plywood. Mrs. Portwine's first grade class was also presented with a wooden 3-D puzzle of a fly that the class decided to name "Super Fly." The fly is much smaller in scale but just as impressive as the dinosaur. Each class is responsible for disassembling and painting their puzzles. This is a very generous gift that will be enjoyed by both students and staff for years to come.

Celebrating National School Breakfast Week

The second week of March is National School Breakfast Week. Students in MSAD#6 were reminded that eating a healthy breakfast each morning is a great way to start their day. "The food you eat is the fuel you need to think, to learn, and to play."
Edna Libby School in Standish celebrated with a visit from State Senator Bill Diamond who ate breakfast with the students.
