Student Penpals Students from the 8th grade at Bonny Eagle Middle School have been pen pals to students at H.B. Emery Jr. Memorial School and Frank Jewett Elementary this year, primarily 5th graders (H.B. Emery classes: Mrs. Karen Neary’s 5th grade class, Ms. Allison Burnell’s 5th grade class, and one third grade class, Mrs. Gerry Gould. Also Mrs. Gloria Stevens and Mrs. Joanne Bellino’s 5th grades at Frank Jewett)  The idea behind writing is to promote writing and literacy, community service, and helping fifth graders to make a smooth transition to the middle school.   8th grade students in Ethel Atkinson’s class participate.  She says: “Fifth graders can ask my students questions, or share their worries/concerns, and my students respond to their questions.  We always try to culminate the year with student-produced projects and take the show on the road, allowing students to finally meet their pen pals.  My students wrote and produced the presentations pictured here.”
